Goal Mors Smitt

Develop the business and grow sales for the Mors Smitt products in the Railway market in the Central Europe region focusing on DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). Mors Smitt as part of the Wabtec organization is a market leader for the relays for rolling stock equipment.

Goal of the job

Sales responsible Central Europe / DACH region for the Mors Smitt railway products: Relays, Miniature Circuit Breakers, Sensors, Measuring systems and Engineered Solutions. Advise and consult the customers on the right product selection in various applications. Define market need for the products and create platform for successful sales activities. Manage the distributor in the region in such a way that the company’s growth goals are achieved.

Description of tasks and duties

1. Sales

  • Maintain contact and strengthen relationship with existing customers like main rolling stock builders. Find new customers and create new business like with various (local) operators.
  • Advise, consult engineering team at customer in the product and solution selection.
  • Ensure Design-in on new rolling stock platforms.
  • Build aftermarket portfolio like spare parts, modules and obsolescence solutions with (local) operators.
  • Support client during train overhaul projects with product and solutions suggestions.
  • Makes quotations, close deals with customer.
  • Contribute to business plan and makes sales plan per country/activity.
  • Makes budget proposals and realizes approved plans, sales budgets and margins.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with the company factories and Wabtec sister companies.
  • Organize local sales/technical support from company as required by customers.
  • Leads and assists regional sales reps and distributor.
  • Strategic sales/market policy issues to be discussed and approved by Sales Director Rail.

2. Marketing

  • Investigate market and detects trends and specific market/customer needs.
  • Analyze competitors and follow their performance.
  • Advice how to manage product portfolio and marketing strategies per country/activity.
  • Takes initiative to develop new products and assists in making product plans.
  • Coordinates in marketing communication activity per country/activity like exhibitions, seminars, product promotions/introductions…etc.
  • Assists in developing product datasheets, leaflets, website…etc.
  • Takes initiative to start sales promotion.

3. General

  • You will report to the Product Line Director Rail based out of the office in Ede, The Netherlands.
  • Organize and responsible for all relevant reporting.
  • Present sales plans and budgets per country.
  • Keep product/application know how up to date (in-company training).
  • Perform all acts, duties and obligations and comply with such orders as designated by the company and which are reasonably consistent with the job title.

Job characteristics Know how

  • Has technical background/experience. Affinity with company technology.
  • Industrial or B-to-B marketing/product management.

Skills

  • Very sales driven (natural sales talent, “nose” for the business)
  • High energy level
  • Self-motivated person / used to work stand alone
  • Excellent communicator in writing and verbal for both English and German.
  • Willing to travel ~50%.
  • Systematic and organized.
  • Skilful with PC and software (Office and CRM – SalesForce).

Education

  • Bachelor-level in technical discipline.
  • Supported by several commercial trainings.

Experience

  • At least 3-5 years sales experience in industry (sales experience in railway industry is a pro)
  • Experience In sales to technical customers (engineers, purchasers)
  • Sales experience in B-to-B.
